Internship Offer Letter, explained

About the Internship Offer Letter

An internship offer letter sets out the terms of a fixed-term internship — its duration, any stipend, and who the intern reports to — kept deliberately separate from a full-time offer letter, since an internship doesn't carry the probation or notice-period terms a regular role does.

Send it once you've selected a candidate for an internship and need those terms confirmed in writing before their start date, whether or not the internship is paid.

Fields this generator asks for

Every field below feeds directly into the letter — nothing is invented on your behalf.

  • Internship end date (required)
  • Monthly stipend in ₹ (optional) (optional)
  • Reporting manager (optional) (optional)

Variants

This generator supports 2 variants:

  • Fixed duration — A defined internship period with no stated extension path.
  • Extendable / convertible — May be extended or converted to a full-time offer based on performance.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a regular offer letter?

An internship is time-bound and usually has a stipend rather than a full CTC structure — this generator is built around a start/end date and an optional monthly stipend, not a salary breakup annexure. Use the Offer Letter generator for a full-time role instead.

Do I have to offer a stipend?

No — leave the stipend field blank for an unpaid internship. The letter simply won't mention a stipend amount rather than stating one is absent.

What happens if we want to extend the internship after it starts?

Choose the "Extendable / convertible" variant when issuing the original offer if that's a real possibility — it sets the expectation upfront. If the intern's internship ends and completed successfully, issue an Internship Completion Certificate; if they're being converted to full-time, issue a regular Offer or Appointment Letter for the new role.
